Join the Miami-Dade Public Library System as we celebrate Women's History Month with a variety of programs, events, books and more that honor inspiring women whose lasting legacies have shaped art, culture and science for generations to come.

Women of Iceland on October 24, 1975
They were the women who stopped working on October 24, 1975, for Women’s Day Off, shouting for change and making sure they were seen and heard.

Dorothea Lange
Who was Dorothea Lange? She was a photographer and photojournalist who captured Americans during the Great Depression and World War II.

Rosie the Riveter
Who was Rosie the Riveter? She was a cultural icon representing millions of women who took jobs left open by men fighting overseas during World War II.

Women's Land Army
Who were the Women’s Land Army? They were British women from all walks of life who provided critical labor to the agricultural industry, helping to alleviate a food and farm labor shortage during World War II.

Join us every Thursday in March to recognize the women that helped on U.S. soil and abroad to win the war. About the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter

Since its charter on April 27, 1940, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Gamma Zeta Omega organization has become a cornerstone of the Miami-Dade County community, championing a myriad of causes and initiatives. The Gamma Zeta Omega chapter holds the distinction of being the first graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha chartered in Florida and the first chartered graduate chapter of a Black Greek-lettered sorority in Miami.
